FAQ
Where are my short links stored?
All short links are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device and are never sent to any server. This means they are private to your browser and device.
Will my short link work on other devices or browsers?
Because links are stored locally in your browser, they will only redirect correctly on the same browser and device where you created them. If someone clicks the link on a different browser/device, they will see a "link not found" message — unless you export and import your links.
Why do links expire after 199 days?
Short links automatically expire after 199 days to keep storage clean and prevent accumulation of stale links. You will see expiry warnings in the link history so you can re-create important links before they expire.
What happens when I reach 9,999 links?
When you create a new link and the total would exceed 9,999, the oldest link (by creation date) is automatically deleted to make room for the new one. You'll see a warning notification when this happens.
What is the URL format?
All short links follow the format alfreto.com/s/your-slug. The slug is either auto-generated from your title (converted to lowercase with hyphens) or a custom one you specify. Slugs can only contain letters, numbers, and hyphens.
Can I edit a short link after creating it?
Currently you can delete links from the history and re-create them. Direct editing of the destination URL is not supported — delete and recreate with the same slug if needed.
